Mobile is the real home of Mardi Gras in North America and has festivities that last a month leading up to Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, the biggest day for parades and activities.

But Mobile isn't the only place where you can find a family-friendly party in these parts. There are parades to be found throughout the Mobile Bay and Eastern Shore areas, as well as in other communities throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties, and even in Pensacola, Florida, and coastal Mississippi.

Stay at Montrose Hideaway Bed-and-Breakfast Retreat and have easy access to the activities of your choice. (See links provided below for more event and availability details as they develop.) You might be able to attend a parade in Daphne, with the parade route only a mile down the street, or in Fairhope, with the parade route only four miles away. There are also parades on various dates throughout Baldwin County in Spanish Fort, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Foley.

Click here and here to learn about the history of Mardi Gras in Mobile. And while in town, make plans to visit the Mobile Carnival Museum to see Mardi Gras festival costumes and items up close (click here for a coupon for $1 off admission).
